boring old January

It seems like everything is down in january... consumer purchases, more people are depressed or sick, the temperatures are cold.... and it has filtered into our lives: There is just NOTHING to do. Oh well, I guess Gym membership sales are probably up, since the place is totally loaded... other than that, we lead pretty boring lives around here.

My mom had wondered why nobody seems to have posted since Christmas, and it's precisely that nothing at all exciting has happened since then!

Alright, well, it's not completely true... Tristan has started learning to walk, which is our most excited report! It is SO FUN to see your child learn these little milestones. She took a few steps a couple weeks ago, and it scared her so much that she wouldn't even walk if you held her fingers; in fear you might let go! But since I backed off a bit, I have found her taking a few steps when she really needs to get to something and she's not thinking about what her feet are doing. It is SOOO cute!

Of course she still only take like 3 or 4 steps before she can't go anymore, but she can stand for a long time, which Madison couldn't do for awhile. In fact, when Madison started walking she couldn't even stop without falling down. So as long as her momentum was propelling her forward her legs could keep up, once she needed to stop, it was down to her bottom she went!

That's the only exciting milestone, hopefully I'll try to capture the cuteness on the webcam or something. These are the only times in my life that I wish I had some kind of recorder contraption...

Hope you all are enjoying your boring January, there's only a few more weeks of it!

The Big Man

So, I just got these emailed to me... and I was SO excited about them! These were taken at Tristan's Christmas "Heart Party". There was a Santa that came and visited and I did inform Madison that this was not the REAL Santa, that he has lots of helpers that go and visit all the kids... you know, because the REAL Santa is busy at the workshop packing his sleigh, anyway.

I love how happy everyone is.... it's truly precious, isn't it?
Okay, truthfully only Madison was excited to talk to him. ANd of course she talked his ear off, it was awesome!
Oh yes, and just so I don't leave anyone hanging the awesome gifts from the party were..... A Camping Little People set, and Little People castle and princess and the big one (when the lady was pushing it across the floor....) was a battery powered Disney Princess ATV. I was in totally shock that we had received our first battery powered ride on car... it was truly an amazing experience!

On with life

It feels a little wierd to have all the festivities over with, and that's even after our low-key festivities! Anyway, we still had a pretty busy couple of days last week... TJ got the joy of changing out the fuel pump on the ol' Tahoe, since it died. We ahd been driving around and it felt like it was running out of gas, which we knew it wasn't since, we had just filled up to make sure (Oh yes, our fuel gauge has been NOT working for some time now). I'm sure TJ's was glad later that he filled 'er up, since he got to suck that much gas back OUT in order to remove the gas tank -awesome!

So, once again, our truck is back in working condition -yay!

We also got the pleasantry of making a trip to Urgent Care last week, since I am so awesome at opening up cans of peaches.... I somehow managed to slice my thumb off with the lid. It's actually not a "somehow" I know exactly how and why, but I'd rather not admit it, since everyone will know that I should have seen it coming, I did, really I did -I still did it though! Anyway, they said that I didn't NEED stitches, that there was one little part that could possible use stitches, but most of it didn't go deep enough. He said he would give me some and he'd have to numb me down, or he could just give me some steri-strips and send me on my way... I opted for the bandaid! Awesome. Ooh, I did have to get a tetnis shot before I left, which wasn't too bad, but 3 days later my arm still feels terrible!

And apparently I show no skill in operating sharp tools, since the following day I cut open my other finger while picking up my shaving razor, now I have two gimp fingers!

And no word on when or if I can get my memory card slot fixed yet, so you don't get to see all the gory details -sorry!
