A 10 year anniversary

Yep, it's true... 10 years... 10 years ago this spring was when I first got licensed to be on the road.

With all this talk about new cars and gas prices, tonite as I was driving the MINI to the store it dawned on me that it had been that long. So I thought I'd share some driving stories about myself:

Shortly after I was handed over a drivers permit I hit the streets driving a local patrol car. That's right, an L-town Police Department ehicle. Of course I was under good supervision, they just didn't know that I had only had that permit for... a week-ish, eh- give or take! Yep, my old high school crony and I, we got to participate in a Police-car driving course as part of one of our elective classes. I'm sure I probably ran over every cone out there!

I did pass my written test on the very first try, and I even passed my driving test on the first try too! Of course I had to drive the old standard transmission Geo Metro, and I only stalled it a few times, put they still let me on the road.

In my defense, I've only been the driver in one accident (a rider in a few others), and I do blame faulty weather conditions. Plus, it was like a major-minor accident; nobody was hurt and the other 18-wheeler involved never even knew that we collided and no ticket.... so really, what harm done? (Although the car was near totalled.) We won't get in to how many speeding tickets I may have had!

So the good news is that I have been blessing the road with my fantastic driving habits (and rare cases of road anger) for 10 whole years now. My am I grown up! Now if only I could find a picture of my very first car that my parents bought for me, some of you may remember the hideous truck I once drove. But hey, it was wheels, so you don't complain too much.

Enjoy your driving!

Just Sweet

As we were hurrying to get out of the house this morning, I couldn't help but realize how cute Tristan was. And surprisingly, she was pretty happy! I took a second (making us later, of course) to take some pictures of her. Not to mention that I'm sure you are all tired of seeing the same old pics of the Mini Cooper (I still like them!)

I also needed to anounce that Tristan is SO mobile now. She is army scooting all over AND she's even started getting up on her knees or feet, so maybe she'll actuall go soon. This is her little attempt at sitting up, whcih she doesn't really do yet, or well yet.

I'm beginning to think that first children might do things earlier because they get more attention from adults. But poor 3rd children... they are doing good to be dressed and fed! So, she'll walk someday, it's okay!

The new wheels...too long of a wait

I guess some of my blog stalkers are getting bored with my funny name post... Apparently they don't see the ever-hilarious humor in it. I laugh every time I get to read of your funny names... seriously... Boobie Dippin? !!! (Nice one Ralph!)

We finally got outselves a second car. What a relief to no longer make arrangements to have your own car. It was quite a process to tell you the truth. TJ doesn't exactly take cars lightly, I should expect that coming from a car man. That's why when our search began, a year ago, he wanted a VW... of course... why not... that's all he's owned his whole life, why change that now. (Well, except for the "Hoopdy"; which is a whole other story) But I kept insisting that I thought the Mini Cooper was the way to go. Of course we debated on this time and time again, and just when we thought we had it decided we would change our minds again. So this year when it came time to actually pick one out to buy, all it took to concinve the poor kid was to let him test drive a few at the dealership. Yup, cat in the bag, done deal, we could have bought one that day.

But we didn't, it would then take a few extra weeks. We first had to find one that suited our needs. And that's hard to do, there really aren't THAT many for sale. We ended up locating this beauty in Dallas and so TJ had to fly in and drive it home. (the lengths we go to!)

So here she is, with all her beauty and 30+ mpg lovin' !!!

There are a few features that we were sad to see we wouldn't get. Like I am totally in love with heated seats... even if it is roasting hot the majority of the year! And we don't have the beautiful senic moon roof.... but I'll settle for 0-60 mph in 6.9 seconds!!!

And we do at least have leather seats....

And just to answer all the lingering questions about if our family will all fit... the answer is NO, it won't. We'd have to leave someone home. The good part is that our other car is a House and will fit 8, so we could have several more children before we filled up that bad boy (which just to answer any MORE lingering questions... we will NOT be having enough children to fill it up, thanks.) TJ drives it to/from work, and the big girls definitely fit, and love riding in it. They call it the "Mini Man".... don't ask, I don't get it, I just think it's cute.
