What a mom and daughter does

Well, not every time, but most of the times....

My mom just came for a visit and we had a few projects in mind, but nothing real monumental, like re-covering couches, sewing nursery gear, etc. So we browsed fabric stores and collected cute-ish boy material, and by the way, that stuff is HARD to find! (cute kind I mean, ugly kind is still plentiful!)

So, here are a handful of pictures from our finished projects.

We found some cloth diapers at Ikea and decided to cut them up, reconfigure them, and make them into cute-si-fied burpers. I'm pleased with the product, and I am crossing my fingers they still absorb something! By the way, these will eventually match two more blankets that my mom took home with her to finish.

Yep, just another blanket.... but still cute. And more importantly... completed!

Monkey blankets and monkey burpers.

Gear and sprocket blanket- This is made out of seer-sucker fabric, not flannel; I'm worried that having a baby in August might be too hot to have too many heavier blankets. But this made a quite nice receiving blanket still, but I got a fun pattern too! Also a burper to match.

The matching Taggie Toy to the gears and sprockets blanket.

Another receiving blanket made from regular fabric, out of turtle fabric with ric-rack sewn in there, that's the trickiest stuff to get in there right (but I love the look!) And of course a matching burper.

And finally a Taggy Toy to match the turle blanket. This guy was extra tricky, it took a few tries but I finally got it. Sorry I don't think I'll be re-creating these makes for anybody else.... you can't pay me enough to stress over another turle head!!

picture tag fun

I guess this is some sort of tag, I hate "tag"--whatever. BUT, I decided to play this little picture game, just to see which picture I came up with, and then of course when I saw it, I thought it was such a darling picture.

If you want to check out what your picture would be, here are the directions:
1. go to Start-up/ then my pictures.
2. go to the 6th file folder.
3. go to the 6th picture. (Or in my case continue with the 6th file until you finally reach a picture;)
4. blog about it.
5. tag 6 people to do the same. --An unnecessary step really!

I love this idea for scrapbooking purposes, maybe it'll bring back some really sentimental thoughts to write on a scrapbook page!

Anyway, this pic was from about a year ago, I think nearly exactly... Tristan hadn't been home from the hospital for too long and TJ had to leave on business for two weeks. While he was gone he visited Hershey, PA and got the shirts and stuffed animals as a gift for the little girls. They loved those shirts!

I can't believe how long their hair is, look at Madison's, that's crazy! Oh and of course it showcases Brooklyne's baby mullet well... poor baby! She's so sweet though! And then of course, can you ever believe that your babies are once that small, and cute, and sweet? Why oh why do they have to grow up!!

It was kind of fun to see this picture again, especially as we are making preparations for the new little guy.

(Thanks for the memories Julie!)

Pregnant friends

It's interesting that pregnancy comes in "waves" it's like there's always a group of girls pregnant and due around the same time. This time it happens again for me, there are a few in my ward and the nearby ward that are all due at the end of summer so it should be fun to have babies when everyone else does!

My friend, Esther, has this post on her blog, I'm linking to it, in hopes to play her game and win something great and handmade. (speaking of she makes to die for good and cute cupcakes. And I believe other yummy cake-ness!)

I'm not sure about recreating the fun festivities, because, well, as most all of you know, I do have swell capabilities of creating handmade items and such, getting them done or delivered in a timely matter... not my strong point. So if I must play to win, then so be it, but it might be a cold day before you ACTUALLY get your freebie!! Ha ha, that's how I roll!

Sharing the news

My mom got to be here with me while the ultrasound was done and all, it was so fun to have my mom there, it's never happened before. Not only that, TJ wasn't able to be there at all, so once we had the news we dropped off a little blue gift basket to surprise him. It was a lot of fun.

So, here is a picture of me, as we left the house for the doctor. I'm so lazy and haven't taken any pictures of me at the "beginning" of this pregnancy, so this will have to do. My belly has definitely already gotten bigger, there's more yet to come! (18 wks. -4-ish months)

And, um, sorry for the lack of super quality photo, apparently my mom's camera was having some kind of flash malfunction or glitch... nevertheless, still a picture of the excitement.

Other than that the stay with my mom was a lot of fun, besides the fact that I got the stomach flu and she had a sinus cold... We were still able to get a few boy things, bought, sewed, organized (nah, not organized yet!) I'll take a few pictures of the completed projects and put them up!

Wouldn't you like to know?

Alright, the news is in.... and I'd just like to start by addressing those that voted for a boy, because I know you most likely did it because you felt sorry for me or some other pathetic, not-for-real-reason. However, any of the 9 of you that voted for a boy, are correct! it's a BOY

And if you can make out anything from this picture you can be assured that the technicians are SURE this time around!!

The big news...

So Thursday is the day of the ultrasound, I'm really starting to worry myself that they won't be able to tell or something, how tragic would that be? Terrible, I know!

Until then (you know, to pass the next 2 days) make sure to vote on if you think the girl curse will continue, or if we did something different this time and will be having a boy.

Eh, just humor me people!

Life goes on

I don't know why I never post anything anymore, this time it's not even that "nothing" is going on, lots of stuff has happened in the last month. Maybe I can give a February run down...

~TJ's parents came down
~We went to TJ's brother's Air Force graduation
~Had an ultrasound on the baby, everything looked great so far
~Brooklyne turned 4 (see party photos below!)
~We bought a new TV (and surround sound, Xbox, guitar hero to go with it)
~We bought a new entertainment center, and didn't even get suckered into buying more than we wanted
~We did however get suckered into buying a new bed, which I think I will really be glad about this pregnancy. I've slept fantastic for the last 2 weeks!!
~The buying ended, dare I say we ran out of money?!!! Nah, they were all mostly planned purchases, ---except the bed----
~My friend from Canada came for a visit and we got to meet for the first time
~Madison lost her first tooth
~The tooth fairy made her first visit to our house, unconventionally she left some $$ on the fridge for Madison, what kid cares that it's not under their pillow when they pull out $5 ? Seriously.
~The second tooth is wiggling it's way out now.
~We thought our a/c went out last week, but really it was the sudden increase in humidity.
~And for the past 2 days now we've had sick at our house, and it's time for him to hibernate for the winter already!

Now we are ready to upload some long over-do photos and move on with the next month. (or the rest of the month, more exciting things to happen in March!!)

Oh and here's the funny kid story for today: last week Brooklyne broke my stapler. I was upset and told her that we now wouldn't have one for preschool (do we actually staple for preschool? No, but still.) Madison (gotta love 5-year-olds) pipes up to console me and says, "It's okay mom. You can just ask Santa for a new stapler for Christmas." Yay, for me! So, if anybody has an old stapler that they wouldn't mind parting with and would like to send to me, then I wouldn't have to use up my big "Santa gift" on one!
